Biden and Harris 'celebrate at the altar of abortion'

As it stands, the ability to kill an unborn child seems more important to the Left than anything else. It has become Vice President Kamala Harris’s and President Joe Biden’s primary focus.

January 22, 2024 marked the 51st anniversary of Roe v. Wade, a decision that allowed the unborn to be killed in their mother’s womb across America. Almost 50 years later, on June 24, 2022, Roe was overturned in the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision that handed abortion regulation back to elected officials. Pro-life advocates celebrate Dobbs as a major win for life, but certainly not an end to the fight to protect life nationwide.

The Christian Post reported in November that roughly “32,000 babies were saved from abortion in the 13 states that have a total ban on abortion following the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling.” As time goes on, several states continue to enact pro-life legislation and protections. But as those fighting for life gain momentum, those in opposition push their narrative with vigor.

After the Dobbs decision, abortion advocates went off the deep end. Images from that day show people crying that their rights were ripped away. Of course, there is no truth to the belief for more reasons than one, but as The Washington Stand’s S.A. McCarthy wrote, “The Left holds up abortion as its Holy Grail — or Unholy Grail, as the case may be.” It’s glorified, put on a pedestal, and prioritized by the Democrats in office.

As it stands, the ability to kill an unborn child seems more important to the Left than anything else.

“[It’s] their top priority,” said Family Research Council president Tony Perkins. “It should tell the American people a whole lot,” he added. And the Biden administration is a particularly potent force in the army of those who see murder as a “constitutional right.”

Abortion has become Vice President Kamala Harris’s and President Joe Biden’s primary focus. On Monday, both Biden and Harris decried the end of Roe v. Wade in speech and action. As a kickoff to her abortion tour, Harris proclaimed “women across our nation are suffering” because they’ve been “robbed of a fundamental freedom,” abortionists “could be thrown in prison,” and women have “fewer rights” than before.

In effect, Harris proclaimed women are suffering because it’s now less convenient for them to murder their babies. And for Harris, the fault lies entirely with former President Donald Trump.

“How dare he?” she grunted in front of the Wisconsin crowd, the first stop on her nationwide tour. She explained that Trump “handpicked three Supreme Court justices because he intended for them to overturn Roe.” Wow. You’re right, Madam Vice President. How dare he follow through on the promise he made to the American people? How dare he value human life and give a voice to the voiceless? The audacity.

But her sentiments were echoed by the president, as Biden also criticized “extreme Republicans” in his speech on the same day. It’s a “cruel reality,” the president insisted, that there are people out there who want to protect the unborn (paraphrased, of course). Additionally, Biden claimed that the threat to abortion is also a threat to privacy.

“Fifty-one years ago today, the Supreme Court recognized a woman’s constitutional right to make deeply personal decisions with her doctor — free from the interference of politicians,” Biden said in a statement. He then addressed the overturning of Roe and how, because of that decision, “tens of millions of women now live in states with extreme and dangerous abortion bans.” He concluded the statement this way:

“On this day and every day, Vice President Harris and I are fighting to protect women’s reproductive freedom against Republicans officials’ dangerous, extreme, and out-of-touch agenda. We stand with the vast majority of Americans who support a woman’s right to choose, and continue to call on Congress to restore the protections of Roe in federal law once and for all.”

But Mr. President, you’re wrong on a few things here.

First, what’s “dangerous” and “extreme” is not protecting a defenseless baby but to think tearing that baby apart is their definition of “freedom.” In reality, women’s “reproductive freedom” has more to do with the decision to engage in sexual intercourse. Less than 1% of abortions are the result of rape. Most sexual activity is a choice, made in freedom, to partake in an activity designed by our Creator for reproduction. So, if that step is taken, whatever follows is nothing short of the consequence of their actions.

Second, if nothing else, the thousands who marched the streets of Washington, DC, for the annual March for Life this past weekend prove this is not an “out-of-touch agenda.” Every day, countless Republicans, Christians, and pro-life advocates from various backgrounds fight tirelessly for the children who can’t fight for themselves. This is a movement built on compassion. I would also argue this reality debunks the notion that “the vast majority of Americans” support abortion. Polls show that a strong majority of Americans want restrictions on abortion. There are millions who want to see abortion abolished forever, and, as FRC pointed out, “100% of unborn Americans are pro-life.”

Lastly, abortion obviously harms the babies, but it’s also extremely harmful for women. It’s not “protection” for anyone or anything. It takes the life of innocent babies and permanently scars women. That’s exactly why the pro-life movement is rooted in love for the unborn and the mothers. We understand how deep and real their struggle is, and we want to help. We want to offer hope and another way. That’s what this is about.

So, to the Biden administration who is making abortion the center of their campaign, the schools encouraging women to stock up on the chemical abortion drug, and anyone who thinks abortion is “just a political issue” and not worth fighting against, my prayer is that, eventually, the truth becomes evident. The truth that every human being has inherent value, whether in or out of the womb.

So, as Perkins eloquently shared with The Washington Stand, “Let them celebrate at the altar of abortion. We’re going to protect and celebrate life.”
