IRIB, which is Iran’s state media, aired a video Aug. 23 that threatens Barron and teased a $10 million reward for taking his life. The video starts with the graphic “Where to Kill Barron Trump” and shows U.S. locations, such as Trump Tower. The video also claims he is being followed and watched by Iranian agents in the U.S.
IRIB, or Islamic Republican of Iran Broadcasting, operates under the authority of the country’s Supreme Leader and the Supreme Council.
After American media asked the U.S. Secret Service about the threat, a spokesman said the Secret Service is aware of the video and “investigates anything perceived as a threat toward protectees.”
A second Iranian news agency, Tasnim, threatened First Lady Melania Trump in a video that aired in July. The video was entitled “Where to Kill Melania” and depicted a motorcade in New York City.
Tasnim is overseen by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, or IRGC, which is believed to be in firm control of Iran’s regime after “Operation Epic Fury” eliminated numerous top Iranian officials.
The threats against the Trump family come after Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in his home by a U.S.-Israel air strike just hours into the campaign that began February 28. Those first air strikes also killed 40 to 50 senior Iranian officials, including the defense minister and the top IRGC general, who were being surveilled at a high-level meeting.
During his first White House term, President Trump ordered a drone strike on General Qasem Soleimani. The commander of the Quds Force was being tracked in Iraq, where he was killed near Baghdad International Airport.
After the threat to Barron Trump, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed that Iran had attempted to kill one of his sons, too. That son was later identified as Yair, who was living in Florida, but he returned to Israel because of the threat.
