Former Trump staffer says admin is right to pursue drug boats … and pursue again if necessary

A member of President Donald Trump's first term team is offering his opinion on drug boat strikes.

Some people and politicians have issues with the boat strikes, and they really do not care for recent news of what appears to be a follow-up strike on an alleged drug boat to eliminate people not killed by the first strike.

The White House says an admiral ordered the follow-up strike, and insists the attack was lawful.

Hogan Gidley worked for the first Trump administration and now works with election integrity at America First Policy Institute. During an interview on American Family Radio, Gidley said that's a legal matter for courts, but he did not have a problem with the first strike or the follow-up.

Gidley, Hogan

"We have had hundreds of thousands of American citizens die needlessly, senselessly and quite frankly all 100% preventable because Joe Biden left the border wide open," said Gidley. "The drug cartels controlled the seas, they controlled the land, they flooded our American communities with illegal drugs that killed our American citizens, and Donald Trump feels as though it is his right as president of the United States, I would argue the law backs him on this as does the Constitution, to take out those terrorists."

Trump himself has referred to the drug traffickers as terrorists.

"I subscribe to the theory that if the directive is to eliminate the target, after the first rocket is fired, if the target is "not eliminated," do they still pose a threat? That's the debate they're going to have in court," Gidley continued. "I would argue they do because if they're still alive, they could still run drugs, they could still kill Americans. You have the right to drop a second bomb, a third bomb, a fifth bomb, however many it takes. That's my own personal view and thought, again, not an attorney. This will be litigated."

All things considered, Gidley felt that "the politics of this is pretty simple." Do you want to protect the American people or not?

"This administration does, the previous administration didn't," said Gidley. "If Donald Trump keeps it in those guardrails, I do think he's going to be successful not just with winning over the hearts and minds of the American people, but he will also succeed at keeping this country safe."
