The new Trump administration dropped a bombshell announcement Wednesday, cutting off billions of dollars that had flowed to non-government organizations that colluded with the Biden administration to aid illegal aliens.

The announcement came from Kristi Noem, the new Homeland Security Secretary, in an exclusive interview with Fox News.

“It’s amazing to me,” Noem told Fox, “that hundreds of millions of dollars, that have been spent by the federal government, has been sent to NGOs to facilitate this invasion of our country.”

Immigration and border expert Lora Ries, who studies the issue at The Heritage Foundation, tells AFN one notorious NGO is Catholic Charities. That non-profit, she says, cooperated with the Biden administration and its open-border policy, and got almost $3 billion for doing so.

Ries, who has worked twice for DHS, was interviewed by AFN before Noem's announcement Wednesday.

“Catholic Charities,” she advises, “has long been advocating for more expansive immigration (and) against legislation that looks to enforce immigration.”

In one stark example, Catholic Charities of Milwaukee produced a legal how-to video (pictured at right) that advises illegal immigrants on how to respond if they are approached or questioned by law enforcement.

“This is a video about knowing your rights if Immigration and Customs Enforcement approaches you,” Barbara Graham, a program director and attorney at Catholic Charities, states.

The attorney’s legal advice, given to people knowingly breaking federal immigration law, is to refuse to cooperate.

“You have the right to remain silent. You do not need to speak to the immigration authorities or answer any questions,” she advises. “You may refuse to show identity documents and say what country you are from.”

A related 2024 story about grant money and Catholic Charities, found online by AFN, describes how a FEMA grant helped Catholic Charities of San Antonio pay for airfare. The story was published after questions were raised if airfare was included in the grant.

The story also points out the San Antonio-based chapter was award a $10.8 million grant in 2023. That funding came from a congressional appropriations bill.

Not only is Catholic Charities known for aiding illegal immigrants inside the United States, many of those foreigners are given food and shelter by the same organization if they make the trek north from the famous Darien Gap in Central America.

That remote jungle area was exposed during Biden’s term as a known starting point for foreigners from around the world who took advantage of Biden’s open-border policy.
