After a chummy relationship with China of more than three decades for Tim Walz – educator, congressman, governor and now vice-presidential candidate – one could wonder exactly what type of American culture is being exchanged.

Kamala Harris’ running mate began visiting China, one of America’s foremost enemies, in the late 1980s. He taught English there for a year and chose it as a honeymoon destination.

Through the years Walz would lead students there on “cultural exchanges,” trips in which he would heap effusive praise on his hosts while telling the young people in his charge to curb their “Americanism” while in China, Seamus Bruner, director of research for the Government Accountability Institute, said on Washington Watch Monday.

Soon, the Chinese Communist Party was sponsoring these trips, Bruner told show host Jody Hice.

“This was reported in local press. The CCP actually paid for scholarships to bring Walz and his students to China for these cultural exchanges or whatever they’re calling them. That’s just shocking,” Bruner said.

U.S. intelligence experts tell Bruner there is “zero percent chance” that the Ministry of State Security, China’s version of the CIA, did not approve of these trips and closely monitor the guests.

Bruner outlined seven troubling Walz connections to China in a related story for Breitbart News. The most disturbing, in retrospect, is that a Chinese delegation was invited to Waltz’ inauguration as Minnesota governor in 2019.

Four years later, The Daily Caller reported Chinese intelligence was quietly operating seven illegal “service centers” in seven U.S. cities. One of those is in St. Paul, Minnesota, next to neighboring Minneapolis.

“When he becomes governor at his inauguration in 2019, there’s a CCP delegation, a consul general attends this. He congratulates Walz on the win, says he can’t wait to form more lasting ties between the state of Minnesota and China,” Bruner said.

It didn’t take long.

The diplomat left the inauguration and visited a group called Global Minnesota, a nonprofit that helps Minnesotans “engage” on international issues. The group is “stocked full of Tim Walz cronies,” Bruner said, and is partnered with the Chinese American Association of Minnesota – which is a front for Chinese intelligence, The Daily Caller reported.

“Basically, Beijing has at least seven secret police stations that we know of throughout the United States,” Bruner said. “They go and round up and harass and intimidate former Chinese citizens who have immigrated to the United States as dissidents or asylum seekers, people critical of the Communist Party. One of them is operating in Minnesota, the Twin Cities, and is close with Tim Walz.”

Come hear the kindly, folksy governor

Bruner said Walz has on at least three occasions served as the keynote speaker at events backed by Chinese intelligence.

These “united front groups” include key individuals who are controlled by the CCP.

It’s unclear if Walz has been paid for his appearances, Bruner said.

“They’re basically an arm of the intelligence apparatus, and Tim Walz is their keynote speaker. We’ve never seen a governor with such cozy ties to the Communists in Beijing,” Bruner said.
