Gender-obsessed Pentagon reverses 'faculty lounge' foolishness

A law firm that fights for religious liberty is pleased the Pentagon has removed what it calls Orwellian language from an awards manual.

In a reversal that is a rare win for common sense, the Department of Defense has now retracted "gender-neutral language" it implemented for six prestigious military award citations.

When a military service member earns a decoration, says Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel, he or she deserves to be recognized with proper grammar.

“Not some woke, grammatically incorrect pronoun demanded by the Biden administration,” Staver tells AFN.

In August, in the Manual of Military Decorations and Awards, the Pentagon bizarrely introduced the made-up word “themself” to replace “himself” or “herself.”

Cotton, Tom (R-AR) Cotton

The change did not go unnoticed by U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR), who has become one of the Pentagon’s biggest critics for its woke propaganda. In a letter about the word change, the Senator said the Defense Department’s “embrace of far-left gender ideology” is not a just a subversion of the English language.

“Worse, it exemplifies a Pentagon leadership consumed by the fads of the faculty lounge,” Cotton continued, “at a time when the Army can’t hit its recruiting goals, the Navy can’t keep ships out of dry dock, and the Air Force can’t find spare parts for planes.”

After receiving that letter, dated Sept. 8, the Pentagon quietly dropped “themself” from the manual.

Echoing the concerns of Sen. Cotton and others, Staver says military service members are witnessing leaders waste resources and hurt morale rather than prepare them to fight and win a future war.

“There are only two sexes, male and female,” Staver says. “If they can't get that right, how can they defend the United States of America?”
