FAIR: U.S. experiencing Castro's clever scheme again

An immigration watchdog group says the record number of illegal aliens streaming into the United States can be traced to three poor, dictator-led countries, which is a tactic our country has experienced before.

More than 40 years ago, the late Cuban dictator Fidel Castro unleashed the “Mariel Boatlift,” the mass exodus of unwanted Cubans who were permitted to travel  from that country’s Mariel Harbor to Florida. More than 125,000 Cubans, many of them criminals and other undesirables, reached U.S. soil and created years of political havoc.

Ira Mehlman, of the Federation for American Immigration Reform, tells AFN our country is currently experiencing a similar mass invasion from Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela, which he calls the three “notable Marxist governments” in our Western Hemisphere.

Nicolas Maduro leads Venezuela and Daniel Ortego is the longtime dictator of Nicaragua. Miguel Diaz-Canel is Cuba’s leader.

All three countries are working together, Mehlman alleges, because Venezuela is sending its people to Nicaragua. From there they are issued a visa by the Nicaraguan government and sent north to the U.S.

All three dictatorships benefit for one huge reason: remittances. When their own countrymen find jobs in the U.S., then send their pay back to their family back home, that money boosts the failing communist economy being wrecked by the ruthless leaders, Mehlman says.
