Comic strips aren’t only fun and games. Sometimes they can keep you safe too.

Truth for Youth Bible is celebrating its silver anniversary as well as a new comic regarding the danger of transgender ideology.

Tim Todd, president of Revival Fires International, spoke on Today’s Issues on American Family Radio (AFR) with Tim Wildmon about the silver anniversary of Truth for Youth Bible (TFY) and the new comic coming to its pages.

“A little over 25 years ago, I approached you, your dad, and the staff here with the Truth for Youth Bible -- that consists of the entire New Testament --along with 100 pages of powerful full color comic stories that deal with the truth about issues of moral concern that young people are confronted with on a regular basis,” recounted Todd.

The partnership with AFR allowed the TRY Bibles to be promoted through the radio. In return, Todd says they would give the Bibles away for free, as they were already purchased, to every young person that would give the Bible to a teenager that did not know Jesus Christ.

“As a result of this partnership, we have given away in excess of 1.3 million Truth for Youth Bibles to Christian young people,” Todd reports.

Many of those Bibles have been given away overseas, such as in Cuba (shown right).

The TFY Bible contains a plethora of comics that imitate situations teenagers might come across in their early lives, such as The Truth about Abortion and the Truth about Cyber-Bullying.

Todd announced that a new comic that will be added to the Bible’s catalogue.

“The most recent comic that will be in the next printing of the Truth for Youth Bible is The Truth About Transgender Ideology -- and the brand-new comic is titled Dangerous Confusion.”

Todd credits The Stand, a magazine and blog publication of American Family Association (AFA), with naming the new comic.

“We kicked around some powerful titles, and then we reached out to The Stand, your monthly magazine, and Rebecca and her team came up with a phenomenal title for this brand-new comic,” states Todd.

Rebecca Davis is the editor of The Stand magazine.

“When Tim Todd reached out to The Stand magazine department about a title for Truth For Youth’s newest comic, I knew it had to be a team effort. I asked each member of our team to read the comic and brainstorm possible titles,” Davis says.

She said that each person on the team came up with a list of individual creative titles, which was then sent to her. From that, she made a master list that was then forwarded to Todd.

“He was very appreciative and certain that the ‘title-to-be’ was in that list,” says Davis. “We are very honored that Tim Todd and TFY would trust us with such an important project.”

The right partner is important

TFY partnered with Kingstone Studios to create the upcoming comic.

Kingstone Studios began making comic illustrations of the Bible in order for children to connect and engage with God’s Word. Among other works, they created the most complete graphic adaptation of the Bible ever done, which is over 2,000 pages and 10,000 panels.

Art Harris, CEO of Kingston Studios, also spoke on Today’s Issues about what does into their work.

“When we first started doing it, a lot of people, moms especially – they'd hear the word graphic novel, and that brought up a lot of bad connotations to them,” explains Harris. “So, it took a couple of years to get around that there's going to be Christian content that could be delivered like this.”

He said that they have hired artists that have worked in Marvel and DC to produce good quality comics.

“I probably have ticked off a lot of Christian artists because I've had a lot of people come to me wanting to write or draw for me. I said if you work for Marvel or DC or Dark Horse, and most of the time they haven't,” Harris says. “I’m sorry. I’m not competing against Christians. I'm competing against Marvel and DC… I'm competing against them and their ideologies, so it's got to be really good.”
