McFarland praises apologetics focus at 'Equip' summer camps

Teaching children to love God and be grateful for their nation is the purpose of youth summer camps that are kicking off soon across the country.

Speaking to American Family Radio, Christian apologist and author Alex McFarland said seven “Equip Retreat” camp meetings are scheduled through the summer. The first one kicks off June 1 in Ekalaka, Montana.

The annual camps are sponsored by McFarland’s apologetics ministry, Truth for a New Generation, ministry Reasons for Hope, and Faith Bible College and Theological Seminary.

"We have seven camps this summer," McFarland told the "Today's Issues" program.

Camp Piankatank is the newest one added to the summer schedule. It  is August 3-8 in Hartfield, Virginia.

More than sermons and Bible studies, McFarland said explaining and defending a biblical worldview through apologetics is a goal of every camp.

"We do all the fun stuff such as zip lines, hiking, and swimming, but we teach what does God's Word say about life and morality and our purpose in life," said McFarland. "Also, we talk about America and why is the United States different, and special, and worth preserving."

Other camps are located in Clear Falls, Iowa; Temple, Georgia; Marietta, South Carolina; Elgin, Illinois; and Hewitt, New Jersey.
