Ministry with message of hope hearing from hopeless in Afghanistan

An international Christian television broadcaster is directing programming to Afghanistan, where Christian believers under Taliban rule are pleading for the Church to pray for their safety.

SAT-7 is broadcasting in Farsi and Dari languages to the peoples of Iran and Afghanistan, and reports the ministry is hearing worrisome pleas from Christian viewers in Afghanistan. The situation for believers there, according to SAT-7, "is going from bad to worse" as the Taliban hunts them down.

Dr. Rex Rogers, president of SAT-7 USA, tells American Family News that one viewer warned in a note the Taliban shows no mercy.

"And here's another one,” Rogers reads from a letter. “We fear for our lives. Pray for I am in danger. The Taliban are in the process of occupying, where can we go, what can we do. Pray that I'll escape this Hell.

Each message stresses the need for international prayer for persecuted believers.

Rogers says SAT-7 is one of the few sources still reaching Christians in Afghanistan and the ministry is seeking more Dari speakers to communicate with the trapped and fearful Church in Afghanistan.

“So [people] might pray that we'll find the right talent, if you will, to put on there,” Rogers says, “believers who are willing to do this and have the ability to communicate."
