Clean drinking water should be an issue for all Americans, whether left or right.

Organizations including Students for Life Action and Liberty Counsel Action have been lobbying the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to restrict chemical abortions, citing concerns that human remains and drug metabolites in wastewater contaminate drinking water supplies and negatively impact fertility.

In a hearing last week with EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, Sen. Patty Murray (D-Washington) used some of her time to ask Zeldin about these concerns from pro-life activists.

According to video from Fox News, Zeldin acted as though he had no idea what Murray was talking about.

“I have not had a conversation with anyone at the agency as far as abortions in the water,” said Zeldin. “I don’t even know what you’re talking about.”

Stemberger, John (Trail Life USA) Stemberger

John Stemberger, president of Liberty Counsel Action, said something needs to be done about this issue.

"The EPA says we shouldn't even flush baby wipes,” states Stemberger. “The entire federal government is letting the abortion industry get away with this. That's a fact."

Stemberger added that Zeldin had been briefed on this topic.

"We gave the EPA our 99-page academic report, and if your viewers and listeners want to see that, they can go to abortioninourwater.org," Stemberger says.

Hawkins, Kristan (Students for Life) Hawkins

Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life and Students for Life Action, found it fascinating that "our political enemies are paying more attention to what Students for Life Action has been doing for the past eight years than Lee Zeldin" at EPA.

"I think that that shows the power that we've had and the continued power of this argument and the strength of this argument, that the abortion lobby knows that they've been doing something wrong," Hawkins states.

Hawkins said her organization has been involved with testing on this issue.

"We are the only agency and organization in the country who's actually tested on this, proven these metabolites, these progesterone blockers are in our drinking water because of one pharmaceutical drug and of one drug only,” says Hawkins. “And that is Mifepristone, which is the first drug used in the RU486 chemical abortion pill cocktail."

When asked what she thought about Murray calling her a far-right activist, Hawkins did not mind.

"I'm happy to be called a far-right activist. I prefer Christian, but any label that Patty Murray wants to attach to me, I'll probably take,” Hawkins says.

Name calling aside, Hawkins said this should be a bipartisan issue.

"This should be something that unites all Americans, that we want clean drinking water. The fact is that abortion has infected and polluted our water,” Hawkins states.

She says it’s ironic that “left activists” claim that they are environmentalists.

“But when it comes to abortion, they're okay with pollution as long as it allows more babies to die, and I think that's what we really need to be hammering on: why is the abortion lobby determined on covering up abortion water pollution in the name of more abortions?” Hawkins asks.

This is not the first time that Hawkins and Stemberger have shared their concerns about this to AFN. Stemberger has also discussed the issue on the "Washington Watch" program.
