AFN has previously reported on Dr. Ethan Haim, the Houston doctor who came forward in 2022 alleging that Texas Children's Hospital violated state law by performing gender-manipulation hormone treatments and surgeries on minors.
Texas Scorecard reports a law firm representing Haim, says that the DOJ filed a reply recently supporting its motion for a gag order against him.
The gag order aims to effectively block Haim from retweeting notable figures who came to his support on social media platform X— according to the law firm.
Jonathan Saenz of Texas Values is watching this case. He tells AFN he’s hopeful that a well-known figure who himself has suffered the loss of free speech on social media will come to
Haim’s defense.
"Dr. Heim is a friend of ours. We've had the pleasure of interacting with him several times. He has spoken at several of our events. But it's becoming very difficult for him to stand up for the truth because of the lawfare. Almost limitless amount of time that the Department of Justice is putting in pressuring folks like him simply for telling the truth. Now I'm hoping when President Trump takes office that he'll ask the Department of Justice to withdraw from this case."

Saenz says often a whistleblower's only outlet to clear their name is to use their free speech rights.
"When you're going up against the federal government, boy, that's quite an entity as an individual, and Dr. Heim has just been out of med school for a year or two. This is a part of who we are as Americans. You have the right to use your voice. I wouldn't expect that Dr. Heim is going to dial down any."
Saenz went on to say the case has gotten away from the DOJ and they are in a desperate situation.
