Another state is making sure children who think they ought to be the opposite gender can get the help they need.

On the last day of the legislative session, the South Carolina Legislature passed H. 4624, a measure protecting minors from gender manipulation, including surgeries.

During consideration, Mitch Prosser of Palmetto Family Council says lawmakers listened to the testimonies of children who want to change genders. But in the end, truth and reason prevailed.

"The beauty of that is that we can rest in who God made us to be," he says about Genesis, which teaches that God created male and female in His image. "The world around us is raging, telling children that they don't have to be that."

But as Prosser points out, "that comes with consequences" like increased suicidal ideation and suicide, weak muscle and bone strength, infertility, and cancer.

He says lawmakers also heard the false argument that children who are confused about their gender will not get the healthcare they need.

"This bill still allows for children and their parents to get the psychological treatment that their kids need in order to understand who God made them to be," Prosser asserts.

When Governor Henry McMaster (R) signs H. 4624 into law, it will go into effect immediately, protecting children from irreversibly manipulating or mutilating their bodies until they are 18. Those on a state health plan will be protected until they turn 26.

Opponents of the measure, who call it the "Anti-Trans Healthcare Bill," claim the law is unconstitutional, dangerous, and cruel, and they are exploring every possible strategy to defeat it.
