In light of a recent poll, U.S. lawmakers may want to listen to voters before approving transgender treatments and surgeries for minors.

A new poll by CRC Research for the 85 Fund examined all major political groups – Democrat, Republican and Independent – and found that two-thirds (67%) of those voters favor laws barring minors from cross-sex hormones and surgical interventions. The political breakdown of those polled was fairly even across the spectrum: 30% Republican, 35% Democrat, and 34% Independent.

As pointed out by LifeSiteNews, those findings run contrary to a "persistent narrative" by the Democratic Party and mainstream media that state laws barring such interventions are "extreme." Those pushing the pro-trans agenda, according to Dr. Stanley Goldfarb of Do Know Harm , are being fed misinformation.

".. Unfortunately, it's been driven by activists who make it sound like this is a universal feeling that's in support of this," he explains. "But it turns out that when people understand the implications and the reality of it, then they're not in favor of it."

Yet, special-interest groups and activists claim those suffering from gender dysphoria, which is a psychological problem, see improvements in their mental health with those interventions.

"The trouble is when this has been studied that hasn't been found," Goldfarb emphasizes. "It hasn't been found that their psychological patterns are improved after they start to undergo gender transition – and the studies that claim that there has been a psychological improvement are so flawed."

European nations that have looked into the impact of "gender transition" have seriously reduced the treatments and surgeries on minors because their research concludes it's wrong.

In the CRC Research poll, 73% of Republicans approved of laws prohibiting minors from being subjected to cross-sex hormones and sex-reassignment surgeries. Majorities of Independents (71%) and Democrats (61%) also approved.
