Twila Brase, an RN who leads Citizens' Council for Health Freedom, told the "Understanding the Times" radio program her vision has grown to approximately 450 medical practitioners and four pharmacies to date.
Much like home schooling offers a parallel education system for parents, Brase said The Wedge brings back the patient-doctor relationship that she says has been ruined by health insurance companies and corporate greed.
"We need to draw people – doctors and patients – out of the health care systems, out of these big hospitals, that are not really working for the patient but working for themselves,” she said.
In 2021, in a related AFN story, Brase announced she was launching “The Wedge” initiative to help doctors who are seeking to escape from corporate policies and federal bureaucracy. Those frustrated doctors did not go to medical school, she said, to fight insurance companies and partner with the federal government for paltry reimbursements.
