Pediatric Endocrinology Clinic, part of the Medical University of South Carolina, was outed after a medical booklet described “endocrine gender affirming therapy” on children under age 18, a LifeSiteNews story points out.
The story credits a group, the American Accountability Foundation, for learning about the booklet and alerting state lawmakers in the Freedom Caucus. Those legislators then submitted a Freedom of Information Act request for clinic records.
Dave Wilson of Palmetto Family Council tells AFN that innocent children were experiencing puberty, and asking questions that go along with it, when medical professionals told them they were transgender.
For a medical doctor to do that, he says, “totally disavows everything we've ever known about children growing up, through adolescence and puberty, to become the men and women God created them to be.”
Among the state legislators, Rep. Ashley Trantham tells AFN the FOI request forced the clinic to admit what it was doing, and to vow to stop it, or face the loss of state funding.
“I do believe that other legislators were making calls to them and asking questions on their end,” she recalls. “But just that FOI [request] in itself, I believe, did exactly what we wanted it to do, and that’s get the information and then put a stop to it.”
According to Wilson, one question remains unanswered: Why were medically-licensed professionals, who supposedly abide by the Hippocratic Oath, purposely harming children?
