A new survey by the Gallup organization shows that 43% of Americans view socialism positively, marking the first time this figure has exceeded 39% in Gallup's polling since 2010.
Gallup has measured American views of small business, free enterprise, capitalism socialism, and big business for nearly two decades. Small business (95%) and free enterprise (77%) are still the most favorable economic concepts, but socialism, which was at the bottom of the list, has now surpassed big business (35%) in favorability.
Meanwhile, capitalism lands squarely in the middle at 55%.
Among Democrats, a whopping 65% gave socialism a thumbs-up. Even 45% of independents gave socialism a positive rating, as well as 15% of Republicans.

“This shouldn't surprise us, given that the public schools have been churning out pro-socialist curricula for the last few decades while parents have been asleep,” Knight states.
“Kids are ignorant of socialism's real track record," he adds, "and that socialism causes misery and tyranny for the many and power and riches for the few top of the system.”
According to Knight, many fans of socialism grow up when they get out of college and face the real world, suddenly realizing that the government may not be their friend after all.
“In fact, the government wants a big slice of their earnings, and they have a new understanding of socialism as a confiscatory system backed by government power that takes from some and gives to others in the name of equality,” Knight says. “Socialism eventually ends up having to enforce itself with tyranny, with arms.”
