Former ABC correspondent admits mainstream media lacks viewpoint diversity

A former broadcast network reporter is admitting the mainstream media is biased against President Donald Trump and conservatives.

There was no love lost between President Trump and Terry Moran when the latter was a correspond for ABC News. A good example is when Moran interviewed Trump for ABC regarding the president’s first 100 days.

Moran asked Trump if he had 100% in Pete Hegseth as defense secretary, Trump said he doesn’t have 100% confidence in anything, including finishing the interview.

Another moment was when Moran asked Trump if he trusted Vladimir Putin.

Trump: “I don't trust a lot of people. I don't trust you. Look at you, you come in all shooting for bear, you're so happy to do the interview —"

Moran: “I am happy.”

Trump: “— and then you start hitting me with fake questions… You're being dishonest.”

Moran was let go from ABC in 2025 after working there 28 years because of his social media posts regarding Trump and a white house deputy chief of staff.

But now, in an interview with Podcaster Michael Moynihan, Fox News reports that Moran admitted that ABC had it in for the president.

Moynihan: “Is ABC News a liberal institution?”

Moran: “Yes, but I think, like a lot of mainstream media, it's because of lack of viewpoint diversity. That was one of the problems in covering Trump. Nobody had voted for him.”

Schneider, Dan (MRC) Schneider

Dan Schneider, vice president for free speech at Media Research Center, says ABC News is among the most biased networks on the air, as evidenced by the spin it gave the 2024 presidential campaign leading up to a debate that Moran moderated.

“The one month prior to the debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, it was 100% positive coverage for Kamala Harris, 93% negative coverage for Donald Trump,” Schneider says.

Schneider notes that CBS News is making moves to the center of the political spectrum thanks to Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss and owner David Ellison. NBC News is no fan of conservatives or the president, but he says they're still fairer than ABC.

“What we do know for certain is that ABC is the most radical of these big three broadcasters,” Schneider states.
