Lawsuit over abortion law called time-wasting stunt

A lawsuit over Indiana’s abortion law is being called a “publicity stunt” because of the group who filed it and why.

The Satanic Temple is suing the State of Indiana over a new pro-life law that forces most abortion clinics to shut down. Only abortions that meet certain expectations can occur within hospitals or ambulatory surgical centers.

According to the Satanic Temple, the law violates the religious rights of its members.

McCann, Ryan ( McCann

Ryan McCann, executive director of Indiana Family Institute, calls the lawsuit a time-wasting “publicity stunt” that is meant to undermine the new law.

“And I do not think,” he says, “there is really any legal foundation to their arguments.”

McCann feels confident the state’s pro-life attorney general, Todd Rokita, will ably defend the law in court.

“We have a phenomenal attorney in the attorney general's office, named Tom Fisher,” McCann advises, “who has litigated abortion issues for many, many years very well."
