Law firm alleges guv broke law to benefit Planned Parenthood

Wisconsin’s abortion-supporting governor has handed out millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood, using funds that flowed to the state for COVID-19 recovery, and a law firm is asking questions about the legality of that arrangement.

So far, on two occasions, Gov. Tony Evers issued two grants to Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin totaling $2.4 million from COVID stimulus funds, and now the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty is alleging the governor broke state law.

Vebber, Lucas (WILL) Vebber

Lucus Vebber, deputy counsel with Law & Liberty, believes it was illegal to do so because there is a rulemaking process spelled out in state law. That requirement includes a public notice and a period for public comment, and that standard law wasn’t followed, he says.

“We believe that, at the front end," Vebber tells AFN, “the grant program that the governor created here doesn't meet those requirements in state law.”

According to LifeNews, citing Vebber’s legal allegations, Gov. Evers gave the abortion giant $1.4 million in 2020 and another $1 million in 2021. That second grant broke the governor’s own rules for handing out grants during the pandemic.
