A proposed legislation introduced in the Massachusetts legislature would establish a state-funded commission focused on Muslim Americans with goals including promoting Muslim participation in public life “to combat Islamophobia,” reports CBN.
According to Boston Herald, it would even form a commission “prioritizing qualified American Muslims in Massachusetts for jobs in state government over other residents of different religious backgrounds.”
The bill is entitled "An Act Promoting the Civil Rights and Inclusion of American Muslims in the Commonwealth," otherwise known as Senate Bill S.2134 and House Bill H.3351.
Dexter Van Zile, managing editor of Focus on Western Islamism, told CBN that this law is against the Establishment Clause of the U.S. Constitution and Article Three of the Massachusetts Constitution. The clause stops the establishment of religion nationally, while the Massachusetts article does the same thing within the state.
Brian Camenker, president of MassResistance, says its getting press all over the country.
“And nothing has happened to the bill since January. It's been sitting there, and the legislature is basically out for the year. The likelihood of this bill getting passed is, like, extremely small, but the fact that it's not officially dead seems to be causing a lot of anxiety,” Camenker says. “There's no haste for passing this thing.”
Camenker is concerned that this legislation could move next year, saying it fits in with the irrational, lunatic mindset that has permeated the leftists.
“I think that the big danger about it is it sort of shows that there's this sort of slippery slope that could happen. The fact that it's there at all is very worrisome because it sort of means that next term, which is next year, it could actually go somewhere,” Camenker states. “Next year or the year after, it's going to get legs because of the mindset of the people here.”
