Associate professor Helen Tilley told her "Biomedicine and World History" class in November that Israeli soldiers killed some of its own citizens rather than have them taken hostage, reports The Washington Free Beacon. Furthermore, lecture slides from the class show that the teacher dismissed any notion of Hamas being a terrorism group and claimed Israel has no right to defend itself.
The description of her class says that it “uses the Covid-19 pandemic as a point of departure to study the history of global health and biomedicine.” However, the course has a lecture titled “Discussion on Palestine and Israel: Past and Present,” and it was labeled as hostile to Israeli and Jewish students by a local watchdog group against antisemitism.
The class even had two anti-Israel guest lectures, who were also the only guest speakers in the whole class. Both of the lecturers signed in 2024, along with Tilley, the “Northwestern People’s Resolution,” which boycotted Israel and accused the nation of genocide.
Kirby Calhoun, campus director of Christians United for Israel, says that is a lie.
“From what I'm reading on this article, it really looks like she must be getting it from social media because she's not getting it from academic sources," says Calhoun.
Calhoun says that Tilley, by presenting information that is clearly not factual, demonstrates that she is an extreme anti-Semite herself.
"These universities have gone unchecked since October 7th, 2023, allowing the vilest forms of anti-Semitic cells to be spewed in their classrooms, in their school, in their plazas, and all over the place,” states Calhoun. “This has to be stopped, and professors have to be held accountable."
Calhoun says that people should not get their worldview from podcasts but, instead, should open the Bible for a clear understanding of what is happening in Israel and why it's happening.
