You may remember how following the October 7, 2023, terror attack in Israel that started the war between Israel and Hamas.
Numerous protests, encampments, demonstrations, and more broke out on our nation's college and university campuses -- demonstrations in favor of the terrorists and against both Israel and Jews.
Now there’s strange silence says Zachary Marschall, editor of Campus Reform. His team tracks college and university campus news around the country.
"We have not seen any protests. We have just been seeing a scattering of social media activity, and it seems that that's where we're going to be seeing the anti-Israel campus activism for the time being."
He tells AFN that when Trump announced the peace deal, he thinks it took the wind out of the sails of the anti-Israel protestors and illustrated the insincerity of their motives.
"One thing we did see was that the anti-Israel crowd in higher education was silent for the better part of a day after the hostage deal was announced, and I think that reflects the fact that these calls for peace that we heard from the crowd were always disingenuous, and they never once thought that Trump would be able to get a deal or be the one to actually orchestrate a deal,” Marschall said.
Marschall said he thinks that initial silence spoke volumes.
"I think that points to the fact that they really didn't want a deal because as long as there was a war, they had a reason to gather people to continue protesting on campus."
Marschall further added that from what he has seen, when Hamas traded the hostages for the Palestinian prisoners Israel held, the anti-Israel crowd was more focused on celebrating the terrorists and criminals who were released than the Israelis who had just gotten home.
