A cultural and education writer is reminding parents in Vermont that the federal government is now on their side.

At issue is the pro-transgender books and lessons that are a part of the kindergarten curriculum at Mary Hogan Elementary School in Middlebury.

MiddPride, a pro-LGBTQIA+ group in the area, is accusing the concerned parents of staging a book ban, but Laurie Higgins of Breakthrough Ideas says this is simply about what is appropriate for five-year-olds.

Higgins, Laurie (Illinois Family Institute) Higgins

"They're not against book bans," she asserts of MiddPride. "They're against banning certain books, books that advance their ideology, their moral ethic, and their ontological views about the nature of gender identity."

Noting President Trump's executive orders banning men from women's sports and defining sex as only male or female, Higgins believes the tide is turning against transgenderism, and she encourages parents to stand up and let educators know that they could lose federal funding if they "don't stop teaching this stuff."

"You've got the federal government behind you," she notes. "We now need parents to step up and help hold these teachers, administrators, and school board members accountable."

She believes liberals are digging in their heels because they are nervous about the conservative resistance.
