Parents have endured much over the past four years under Democrat leadership, including the infiltration of "woke" ideology in their kids' classrooms, the increased presence of LGBTQ material, and even instances where children were taken from their families by the state because the parents would not confirm the child's so-called "gender identity.”
While this may not be finished since each state has its own laws, the federal government has a new leader in the oval office who aligns with conservative values far, far more than the previous administration.
Victoria Cobb is president of the Family Foundation of Virginia.
She said in an interview with AFN, lawfare has been a real thing for parents who simply wanted to challenge woke ideology.
"I think parents are encouraged that there might be a new day where they can expect that when they engage at a school board or challenge the policy of their child's school that they are not going to experience the backlash that they previously were experiencing under the Biden Administration."
Backlash had real effects
Loudoun County parent Scott Smith was arrested at a school board meeting and found guilty of disorderly conduct. He was there to speak out and accuse the district of trying to cover up an alleged bathroom sexual assault against his daughter that involved a transgender biological male.
Smith was found guilty of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail, all suspended, contingent upon a year of good behavior, according to Fox News via Loudoun Now.
Video of Smith being physically removed from the school board meeting became a rally cry for Leftists who said it was an example of parents out of control in opposition to transgender rights.
Smith’s arrest was cited by the National School Boards Association in a letter to the Department of Justice asking it to respond to an alleged increase in violence against school officials nationwide.
In the same county, a Facebook group went off the rails with threats against conservative parents who spoke out in school board meetings.
One man, Loudoun County parent Scott Mineo, lost his job when a group member contacted his employer, he told local television station ABC 7 News.
After the last four years, Cobb thinks President Trump is now putting the label of 'terrorist' on the right people.
"I think it was incredibly encouraging to hear President Trump categorize cartels as terrorists, not parents in a school board meeting. I do think there is going to be a sense where parents know that the government is not going to challenge them simply for protecting their children."
Trump’s gender stance praised
Cobb also talked about President Trump's executive order declaring that there will only be two genders.
“This was also in his speech. It encourages parents that in places where there are still harmful policies that don't protect every child when it comes to bathrooms, locker rooms and sports teams, I think that change in policy gives parents some of the needed fodder … to be able to better challenge their school boards for being out of step."
