Sophia Witt of Students Supporting Israel (SSI), an organization of Jews, Christians, and other advocates for the nation of Israel, would argue that antisemitism on U.S. campuses is the worst it has ever been.
Though she recognizes that some of it is coming from people who are "naturally antisemitic," she thinks "a lot of it is coming from a lot of misled students and faculty administration" who think they are doing some kind of social justice advocacy by standing with the Palestinian cause.
"A lot of Zionists stand with the Palestinian cause," Witt notes, "but a lot of these students are not pro-Palestinian; they are pro-Hamas."
Meanwhile, she submits Hamas is destroying what she calls the Palestinian people and the Palestinian cause.
"The Hamas charter itself says, 'Death upon Jews.' It calls for the destruction of the state of Israel, and it calls for the death of all Jews, and Christians as well," she references. "It's very clear in its cause, and I think that a lot of students see Hamas as some kind of freedom fighter or peacemaker for the Palestinian people, as like the spearhead of this resistance movement."
Seeing such support for that terrorist group, Witt says, is "very scary."
Earlier this month, Mosab Hassan Yousef, the son of Hamas founder Sheikh Hassan Yousef, criticized Hamas' student supporters in the United States and said they "need to go to a mental asylum."
