Homeschooling pros list continues to grow

The number of homeschoolers has skyrocketed over the last year, and the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) believes the numbers will remain high even after the pandemic fades.

According to HSLDA, the threat of COVID-19 has spurred the growth in homeschooling, as parents chose that over online learning. In addition to that and safety, researcher Dr. Steven Duvall says a third top reason is the increasing radical curricula at public schools.

"That is another thing that's got a lot of parents upset and the reason why I believe that many homeschoolers will continue home educating their children for some time," says Dr. Duvall.

The increasing introduction of leftist materials at public schools could soon become the leading reason parents choose homeschooling, he adds.

"A lot of people have made this decision over the last year, and I believe they're not going to drop quickly because it's going to be a wait-and-see type of situation for many parents," the researcher predicts.

The 3.3% of families who said they were homeschooling in 2017 has increased sixfold.
