Mayor frames nuclear family as guiding principle for future in small but growing Texas community

Mayor frames nuclear family as guiding principle for future in small but growing Texas community

While many states, counties, and cities across the U.S. celebrate "Pride Month," Republican leaders are officially recognizing the important role the nuclear family plays in shaping the country.

Fate, Texas, is a bedroom community just east of Dallas. Once small and rural, it has seen significant residential development, with master-planned neighborhoods, new schools, and increasing local infrastructure to support its growing population.

Greenberg, Andrew (Fate, TX mayor) Greenberg

Despite its growth, it still retains a quiet, family-oriented suburban character, compared to nearby larger cities like Rockwall and Dallas. On June 1, the first day of what some recognize as "Pride Month," Fate Mayor Andrew Greenberg (R) issued proclamation declaring June "Nuclear Family Month."

"It's a recognition that we still believe in the Bible, and we still believe in the truth of what God ordained the family to be," Greenberg tells AFN.

The proclamation begins by stating that "God ordained the nuclear family — one husband, one wife, and their children, whether biological, adopted, or fostered — as the fundamental building block of a healthy and flourishing society."

Recognizing that worldview "shapes decisions from government from the federal level down to the local level," Greenberg is making sure that churches, ministries, pastors and faith-based organizations provide guidance and mentorship to families seeking to build strong homes grounded in faith, responsibility, and love in Fate.

He says he is tired of always reacting to what the world does, but this proclamation is a proactive, offensive move. It has some practical effects like structuring taxes to encourage the nuclear family. City growth will also have the resolution in mind.

"As difficult as it may be, we want the kinds of businesses that are going to continue to attract those families, which means that there are some businesses that we would say no to or in our comprehensive plan for Fate," Greenberg explains.

Fate is not the only place taking such a stand. In April, Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee (R) signed a resolution (originally filed in 2025) designating June as Nuclear Family Month.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders (Gov. of Arkansas) Sanders

Indiana Gov. Mike Braun (R) has also made a similar declaration, vowing that his state will "continue supporting policies that strengthen families and help the next generation thrive."

Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders has formally recognized June as a “Fidelity Month” in the state, framing it as a celebration of faith, family, community, and country.

Her proclamation encourages Arkansans to reflect on “fidelity to God, family, community, and country” and emphasizes traditional civic and family values.

It cites themes like strengthening families, civic responsibility, and shared moral foundations as key to a stable society.
