The governor of Arkansas is being praised for a family-focused proclamation that is challenging “Pride Month” and the rainbow-worshipping culture.

Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders has declared June as “Fidelity Month” in a proclamation that reminds Americans the United States was built on a foundation of faith, virtue and morality.

“Here in Arkansas, June is Fidelity Month: fidelity to family, fidelity to country, fidelity to God,” Gov. Sanders told The Daily Wire for its related story.

The proclamation from red-state Arkansas comes after neighbor Tennessee, also setting itself up for backlash, declared June is “Nuclear Family Month.”

Regarding that proclamation, Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton told “Washington Watch” a stable home, with a mother and father, helps keep children out of poverty and away from illegal drugs and alcohol.

“We also know that 71 percent of high school dropouts are from a fatherless family, and 85 percent of youth, who are currently in prison, come from a fatherless household,” Sexton told the program.

Asked about public response, Sexton said most of the public supports “Nuclear Family Month” and only a loud, vocal minority has complained about it.

“The vocal minority tries to bully and push and make it to where you don't want to do these things. And the LGBTQ community has come out against it,” he said.

As the United States nears its 250-year anniversary, on July 4, Sanders points to the Declaration of Independence and its mention of "Nature's God" as a reminder that our nation was founded on the premise individual rights and freedoms come from our Creator.

The proclamation also quotes President George Washington and his warning that virtue and morality are necessary for a popular government to work.

David Cox, of the Little Rock-based Family Council, told American Family News his organization deeply appreciates Gov. Sanders’ proclamation.

"If you look at the proclamation, this is all about cultivating fidelity to God, to family, to community, to country," Cox told AFN. "Those are founding principles for our nation that we would be faithful to our God, to our families, and to our communities, and ultimately to our nation."

Based on that, Cox said this is really a celebration of our heritage and what has allowed America to flourish for the last 250 years.

“In tandem with that,” Cox observed, “it's also an opportunity to encourage Arkansans to practice virtue, commitment, responsibility, celebrating the moral foundations of our state and our nation.”
