Iran recently launched two ballistic missiles attempting to hit the joint British-U.S. military base on the island of Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean 2,500 miles away, illustrating that the rogue regime has rockets with the range to reach Europe.
In response, Alan Dershowitz, a former Harvard Law School professor, told Newsmax's Sunday Agenda that the reach of Iran's weapons is a growing concern.
"This is the most important war since 1939, since Nazi Germany," he said. "If Iran is allowed to develop nuclear bombs, [the regime] will do what Hitler did, and there will be millions and millions of deaths."
While America's moral responsibility during the Holocaust is still debated, most experts agree that the U.S. could not have entirely prevented it. By the time America entered World War II in late 1941, mass killings were already underway. However, many believe the U.S. could have at least reduced the death toll.
"Had President Trump been in charge in 1935, 1936, I think the Holocaust would have been prevented," Dershowitz submitted. "I think he would have gone in after Nazi Germany, he would have destroyed it the way he is destroying Nazi Iran, and the Holocaust would have been prevented."
He said Israel and the United States are preventing another holocaust now.
"It's a nuclear holocaust that Iran would clearly inflict not only on Israel, but on Europe," Dershowitz warned. "We now know that [Iran's] rockets can reach Europe and ultimately the United States, so, this is the most important war we have fought since the Second World War."
"Every decent person ought to join it," Dershowitz continued. "The Democrats ought to join it in the United States, but they're not."
The U.S. did not join WWII earlier mainly because the public and Congress did not want another war. That changed after the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Now, Dershowitz said the Democrats are putting partisanship before national security.
