Kirk: Americans missing the byproduct of mortgage payments -- pride

As more and more American young people appear to be embracing socialist ideas, a political activist believes it's because they really don't understand the value of working to own something.

Speaking to Fox and Friends, Charlie Kirk, who is the head of Turning Point USA, identified the roots of socialistic support in America.

"That kind of radical vision or even lack thereof…is rooted when people do not own stuff, and this is the greatest crisis that is facing us."

Without ownership, in a home for example, there’s no pride in the work that was necessary to make home ownership possible.

There’s less motivation to take care of property if it belongs to someone else.

"We need to have a national project, and I believe President (Donald) Trump will be able to accomplish this. How do we get more young people under the age of 35 to have equity in the system, not the Democrat version of equity where they want redistribution, but actually, are they paying a mortgage? Do they own stuff? Or are they permanent renters?"

There are consequences for societies who rely too heavily on rental property, Kirk said.

“A permanent renting class in this country is the prerequisite, is the leading ingredient for radical politics that nobody wants to see. We need to reinvigorate the ownership economy and then all of a sudden when you own stuff, you're less likely to burn down a Wendy's and vote for candidates like Zohran Mamdani,” he said.
