Republican House Rep wants to see God’s design for families celebrated – in June

Representative Mary Miller (R-Illinois) plans to put forth a resolution on June 10 to formally declare June as “Family Month,” possibly muscling its way into a spring spotlight currently dominated by the LGBTQ community.

This resolution has support from organizations such as the American Family Project and the Family Research Council as well as being co-sponsored by other Republican representatives, Michael Cloud of Texas and Harriet Hageman of Wyoming among them.

John Adams, the second U.S. president, is often quoted for his summary of the Constitution. Miller believes its applicable to U.S. recognition of the family as well.

“Our Constitution was made only for moral ahttps://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-gop-resolution-declares-june-family-month-instead-of-pride-monthnd religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other,” she said, borrowing the phrase.

June as a month to celebrate LGBTQ “Pride” has been an agenda item of Democrats presidents, first designated by Bill Clinton in 1999, and later pushed by Barack Obama and Joe Biden (top photo).

It is time for a change, Miller says.

A member of the Congressional Family Caucus, she is promoting legislation that advocates and strengths the foundation of God’s chosen family structure. She spoke with Tony Perkins on Washington Watch about the overturn of Pride month and the stance of traditional marriage values.

“Sadly, the Left hijacked June to present perversion and to cause gender confusion and basically to give license for individuals to be in indecent in public. I'm taking it back for the American family,” Miller states.

She expects pushback to her resolution but continues on with God’s purpose of marriage in mind.

“I always think people are where they are. We want to lay out that God's ways are perfect, and we want to make getting married and having children a beautiful thing,” Miller says.

Consequences have arisen because of continuous promotion of the left-wing agenda.

“The consequences of the Biden administration spending four years promoting this kind of indecent Pride stuff is that young people don't want to get married and that the birth rate is dropping,” Miller said.

The Family Research Council also lists 10 arguments for why same-sex marriage is not good for the family or children. Among some of the reasons are that children are better off having both a mother to care for them and a father to be an appropriate role model. It also removes the procreative purpose of marriage which is attributed to the drop in the birth rate.

Promoting families

That is why it is so important for traditional families to be highlighted.

“We need to exalt the family to the place that it needs to be. It was faith and family that built our country,” Miller declares.

This year has seen a decrease in support for Pride from different organizations, particularly major U.S. corporations.

“I think people are really done with the Pride Month. I don't know how they ever got an entire month,” Miller said.

The New Yew City Pride March has lost sponsorship from Mastercard, PepsiCo, and Nissan among others. San Francisco Pride is a non-profit that hosts one of the biggest Pride celebrations that now has a $200,000 budget gap after losing donors such as Comcast and Anheuser-Busch. Other Pride celebrations and organizations across the country are facing the same problem.

These hindrances to the LGBTQ community are the result of the Trump administration’s effort to diminish Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion practices. Companies have also noticed an increase in consumers wanting to see less "Pride." Fear of economic backlash has prompted these companies and others -- such as Target shown at left -- to take a step back from LGBTQ activism and remove their brands from pride merchandise and promotional tools.

Even The Education Department has already declared June as “Title IX Month” because it is the 53rd anniversary since the legislation was passed, further showing a shift away from LGBTQ ideology and celebration.

While Miller does not agree with the lifestyle of the LGBTQ movement, she believes that God is one that redeems the past as people move into the future.

“I think we need to say that this is the best way and that this is the ideal. We need to be unashamed of standing for traditional marriage and encouraging people to have children,” Miller says.

Let the truth be heard

Christians need to start speaking the truth instead of remaining silent on these issues like they have in recent years.

“I think it's because, generally, Christians really care about people, and they don't want to hurt people's feelings but going along with a lie is not loving a person. So, we do need to speak the truth,” Miller says.

God’s ways are perfect and that extends to his plans for marriage, Miller says.

“He's the one that designed marriage to be between a man and a woman that are committed to each other for life and who welcome children. I know from having seven children that it's a lot of work, but things that are valuable cost more.”
