'Vile Jew-hater' disinvited from summer break celebration

A promoter of human rights commends Cornell University for putting a stop to an anti-Israel musician's on-campus performance.

The Cornell University student-run Slope Day Planning Board reportedly invited "vile Jew-hater" Kehlani following a poll of students.

The artist has posted anti-Israel sentiments on social media, including maps eliminating the state of Israel completely, and one of her music videos begins with, "Long live the Intifada," an Arabic word that is understood to mean a civil uprising in the Palestinian context.

Christian author and commentator Janice Crouse says Kehlani has made no secret of what her values are; her anti-Israel sentiments are "very plain for everybody to see," and the backlash to her invitation was so severe that Cornell President Michael Kotlikoff immediately canceled it.

"Sometimes students aren't aware of the deeper meaning of groups that come on campus, and I think it's a responsibility of the administrators not to just let such decisions be chosen by the students," says Crouse.

She wonders if President Trump's determined effort to rid U.S. campuses of antisemitism prompted fear of a possible investigation into the Ivy League university had Kehlani performed as planned.

"With the kind of statements that the president has made and the decisions that he's made, they certainly would be eligible for that," Crouse asserts.

Slope Day is a day to celebrate the end of classes prior to the summer break.
