Donald Trump's executive order on January 27, 2025, called for removal of books that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and wokeness in military libraries. So it was that the brass at the Naval Academy in Annapolis tossed Dr. Carol Swain's book from 2002 called "New White Nationalism in America," which – she tells AFN – actually opposed DEI and wokeism.
She says her new book, "Diversity Without Discrimination," declares the death of DEI and looks for a new national identity. "Sixty years of affirmative action has ended by executive order. DEI and affirmative action are in their death throws," says the author.
According to Swain, those on the radical Left are finding it difficult to come to terms with what happened on November 5, 2024, which seems to have changed everything.

"When Donald Trump was re-elected in November and he got support from just about all sectors around society, that was a sign that the American people were not happy with the direction of the nation," she argues.
Swain's vision of a united, post-racial country requires America to revert to the original intent of the civil rights battle that had room for all Americans, regardless of skin color.
"All we have to do is to go back to the original purpose and vision of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that prohibited all forms of discrimination – and it also upheld the Equal Protection clause of the 14th Amendment," she points out.
She says it also requires a return to our spiritual roots as well. "… If you go back to [our] Judeo-Christian roots … every human being is an image bearer of God … we're in the image of God."
Swain is the founder of Real Unity Training Solutions, a group whose mission is to encourage Americans to rediscover the national motto: "E pluribus unum" (Out of many, one).
