They only care about one kind of power, and it isn't electric

Arizona Senator Mark Kelly's choice of transportation continues to have people talking.

In a recent video, the retired astronaut and former naval officer announced that he was getting rid of his Tesla, saying every time he got into that car, he was reminded of "just how much damage Elon Musk and Donald Trump [are] doing to our country."

Soon after, he posted another video to show off his new sport utility vehicle (SUV), calling it "incredibly reliable" and saying he is looking forward to driving it for "many, many years."

Pointing out that electric and hybrid SUVs are available for purchase, Larry Behrens of Power the Future says Sen. Kelly's new ride appears to be gas-powered, which is noteworthy considering the Democrats' apparent desire to help the environment.

"He might as well be hopping on the private jet with John Kerry," he submits. "Here was a senator who was perfectly happy when Joe Biden was handing down mandates so that you, me, and everyone else had to buy an electric vehicle, but when it came time to choose his vehicle, he chooses something that is not electric."

Behrens reiterates that Sen. Kelly, who is part of the party that is "always happy to lecture you," could have gone with another alternative-energy vehicle.

"It doesn't have to be a Tesla, but no, he wants something that is more practical for him," the energy policy expert points out. "All we're asking is for Sen. Kelly to wake up to the fact that every American wants to do exactly what he did: have the choice of the vehicle. But Sen. Kelly knows if Americans have the right to choose, they won't choose an electric vehicle, just like he didn't. It's absolute hypocrisy at its worst."

Meanwhile, the very people who touted Teslas' environmentally friendliness are now burning them, ignoring the actual harm that is doing to the environment.

"A burning electric vehicle (EV) is a much different animal than a burning internal combustion car, just in the way that the toxic fumes from the smoke and the batteries could burn for much longer, much hotter, and be much more dangerous," Behrens explains. "I think the people who are doing this know that."

He says Tesla was "the golden child of the eco-Left" until Elon Musk decided to think for himself and determined that the Left was not answering the questions that needed to be answered. Now, with Musk working alongside the Trump administration on spending cuts, Behrens says liberal activists are violently kicking at the most successful American EV manufacturer.

"It speaks volumes about the Left," he concludes. "They will take something that they say they love, like electric vehicles, and they will destroy it."

He says it all goes to show that none of this has to do with the environment; it all has to do with political power.

"The Left is out of political power, so they resort to their default setting, which is violence," Behrens laments.
