Texas Scorecard reports the East Plano Islamic Center is developing a 400-plus acre community northeast of Dallas that will have a mosque and Islamic school.
Developers say it's a housing community for Muslims, but critics say it could be an exclusive area.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott wrote on X that Sharia law is not allowed in Texas.

Former Army Captain Jesse says the best way to discourage the Muslims is to work to make them part of the existing community.
"The best way to protect the West is to stand up for American values and to promote assimilation, and I think these communities, obviously are the antithesis of that. A lot of people in the West are beginning to realize that Sharia law does violate the rights of others."
He says the jihadists think long-term with the goal of a global government.
"These were words that were told to me by a Taliban commander in Afghanistan where I asked him how long he intends to keep fighting us and he said, 'You know, my children will fight you, their children will fight you. If it takes 1000 years, we will win.' And that's the way that they look at things. Two possible futures for the world: I think it's either Star Trek or Stone Age. Sharia Law would certainly bring us to the Stone Age."
