A proponent of God's design for life, family, and liberty is thankful that a newly elected Assembly member is working to promote adoption to teens in one of the nation's most pro-abortion states.

Jonathan Keller, president of California Family Council, says Leticia Castillo's (R-Corona) AB 329 aligns with her campaign motto: Family, Family, Freedom.

"Adoption is a worthy option that is often overlooked in discussions about unplanned pregnancies," Castillo said in a statement. "This bill empowers teens with knowledge about the adoption process, connecting them to resources and support so they can make informed decisions for themselves and their futures."

Provisions include ensuring adoption is presented as an equal and viable option alongside parenting and other family planning options, providing information on the emotional, legal, and financial aspects of adoption, and offering resources for teens to connect with licensed adoption agencies and counseling services.

The bill aims to destigmatize adoption by educating students on how modern adoptions work, including the birth mother's right to choose an adoptive family based on race, religion, lifestyle, or parenting approach.

Keller's organization is "grateful" for this.

"Unfortunately, California has long been one of the most pro-abortion states in the entire country," he laments. "We see that not just as part of the medical establishment, but we also see that among the promotions to young people."

At best, he says abortion is presented as a necessary evil; at worst, it is placed on par with birth control.

"In some cases, it's even talked about as an empowering choice that can help secure your future and give you more opportunities," Keller adds. "In light of that, we are so grateful that Assemblywoman Castillo has introduced AB 329 that is aimed at ensuring adoption is presented as a viable and empowering option for all teens who are facing unplanned pregnancies."

Research shows that when a trusted adult presents adoption as a possibility, the likelihood of a young woman choosing it increases by 50%.
