Chicago police released pictures of two suspects wanted for the attack.
Both are male. Both are around twenty years old. One was wearing a black balaclava, covering everything except his eyes and nose.
Law enforcement describe it as a "battery/hate crime.”
Amy Zewe is vice president for The Jerusalem Connection Report and a Christian media analyst for CAMERAS partnership of Christians and Jews. She tells AFN one thing she's learned so far is that this was pre-meditated.
"These students at DePaul aren't the first Jewish students to experience violent attacks in addition to consistent harassment from either community members on their campuses or in the cities where their colleges reside."
It happened in Lincoln Park while two students were showing their support for Israel, according to Fox.
One man verbally engaged one of the victims and made anti-Semitic remarks before repeatedly hitting him, according to CPD.
Former IDF member attacked
Zewe said this attack is unfortunate because Jewish students are starting to feel like they need to hide their identity.
"Our prayers are with these students, and we are excited to see that DePaul's president has denounced the incident, and that the police are charging these folks with a hate crime after their failing to do that initially when the Jewish gentleman was shot the week before. So as a Christian community, we need to continue not only to pray for our Jewish brothers and sisters, but also hold our leadership accountable.”
One of the victims is a former member of the Israel Defense Forces.
