Linda Harvey of Mission America states the American Library Association is behind Banned Books Week and manipulates parents into a "hands off" position, hiding them from just how pornographic and vulgar the books they are protecting are.
"People do not realize that it's not simply a couple of, you know, vulgar words and a phrase here and there. These books today are passage after passage after passage of extremely explicit pornographic material."
She adds it's not just pornography and salacious pictures parents need to be on the lookout for.
"You have anti-police. You have America bashing. Of course, you have Christian bashing. You have outright Marxism, and you have anti-parent and anti-authority messages everywhere and, oh by the way, the occult is in there everywhere as well. And, so, parents have a lot to worry about."
Harvey stresses Banned Books Week is an attempt by Leftists and book publishers to run a protection racket for any kind of literary trash they want to put in front of children.
According to the website, BannedBooksWeek.org, the 10 most challenged books for 2023 included LGBTQ themes in the top five.
No. 6 included rape and incest. LGBTQ appeared again in Nos. 7 and 9.
Organizers say Banned Books Week launched in 1982 in response to a “sudden surge” in the number of challenges to books in libraries, bookstores and schools. The week allows librarians, educators, authors and publishers to join “in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas.”
