An organization continues its efforts to combat REAL ID.

The reason an organization called Citizens' Council for Health Freedom is concerned is because of the potential that Americans may one day be unable to access healthcare without a REAL ID.

"This REAL ID card should be looked at as part of the American Left really pushing towards the Chinese version of a social credit system, where we will not be able to buy or sell, we will not be able to do anything, it could all be just cancelled by canceling our identification on our phones, that's where this is all going," says Twila Brase, RN and president/co-founder of CCHF.

She’s trying to increase awareness and opposition to REAL ID.

"There's a public comment period that ends on October 15th and we are trying to generate as much opposition as possible," says Brase. "It's meant to eventually be part of the whole international global identification and tracking system, and so we have to get Americans to refuse and we're trying to get Americans to go in and make a public comment and say they don't support this.”

Almost half don't have it

Forty-four percent of Americans do not have a REAL ID, something Brase calls a national ID card.

That could present a major problem for many Americans just months from now.

Homeland Security has on its website a 'Countdown to REAL ID Enforcement,' that on May 7, 2025, travelers must be REAL ID-compliant to board domestic flights and access certain federal facilities.

An FAQ section shares the following information:

"Passed by Congress in 2005, the REAL ID Act enacted the 9/11 Commission's recommendation that the Federal Government ‘set standards for the issuance of sources of identification, such as driver's licenses.’

The Act established minimum security standards for state-issued driver's licenses and identification cards and prohibits certain federal agencies from accepting for official purposes licenses and identification cards from states that do not meet these standards. These purposes include access to certain federal facilities, boarding federally regulated commercial aircraft, and entering nuclear power plants."

Last week the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) proposed delaying the REAL ID requirement for passengers of domestic airlines to 2027.

TSA may take a phased approach to REAL ID compliance, meaning it may begin issuing warnings to air travelers with non-compliant IDs in 2025, The National Law Review reports.

"This is all about freedom for the entire country, but we know that healthcare could be one of the tools to try to get people to comply with an unconstitutional card, with an unconstitutional tracking and identification system,” says Brase.
