Undoing the enemy's plans

Mothers are praying for students and teachers this new school year, fully expecting to see God move on their kids' campuses.

President Sally Burke says Moms in Prayer International, which started in 1984 with a few mothers praying over their children, now includes groups in every U.S. state and in more than 150 countries. She says scripture instructs believers to pray continuously.

"Prayer undoes everything that the enemy has planned for your child," Burke notes. "[It also] fulfills what God has planned for your children."

She urges all mothers, whether their kids are just starting school or whether they are a new Christian who is not sure how to pray, to "go running to our website."

Burke, Sally (Moms in Prayer International) Burke

"You'll be connected with a local mom that lives close to you so you can begin this journey," she details. "We use four simple steps: We praise God for who He is according to scripture; silent confession – let go of all those fears, all those worries; thanksgiving; and then we intercede using God's Word."

Burke confesses it took her a while to pray out loud, but she has seen "the most amazing answers to prayer" on her kids' public school campus. Teachers have come to know Jesus as their Lord and Saviors – as have students.

"Today they are teachers and preachers and mighty men and women of God," Burke accounts. "I have seen with own eyes on my kids' own school campus what God is doing."
