A national firearms group is relaunching a safety program that is aimed at keeping children safe.

National Shooting Sports Foundation, or NSSF, is relaunching its Project Child Safe that promotes the safe securing of firearms.

“It’s a comprehensive program that prevents accidents, suicides, and thefts,” says NSSF spokesman Bill Brassard.

The website, Projectchildsafe.org, has been redesigned as part of the relaunch.

Brassard said visitors to the website can learn how to obtain a free gun lock, learn about safe storage devices, and learn tips for parents and children.

“It’s important for parents to talk with their children on a regular basis about firearm safety,” he says.
