A law enforcement advocate says he has mixed feelings after a radical leftist politician was attacked by carjackers in front of her children because the woman openly advocated for abolishing police.

Shivanthi Sathanandan, second vice chairwoman with the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party, ran to social media last week to post a photo of her bleeding head and describe the attack.

“I have a broken leg, deep lacerations on my head, bruising, and cuts all over my body. And I have rage,” she wrote in a Facebook post.

Thanks to social media, her bleeding head hadn’t been stitched before social media sleuths pointed out Sathanandan had called for “dismantling” the Minneapolis Police Department in 2020 after the death of George Floyd.

"We are going to dismantle the Minneapolis Police Department. Say it with me," she wrote in a Facebook post that said the MPD had "systematically failed the Black Community."

It's time to "build a new infrastructure that works for ALL communities," she further wrote.

“The irony here is that she's one of the people that created the environment in Minneapolis for the lawlessness that is now affecting that entire community,” Randy Sutton, of The Wounded Blue, says of the left-wing politician.

Among 10 cities in the state, Minneapolis ranked No. 2 for crime, the Southwest Journal reported in a June story.

Numerous racial protests and riots spread across the country during the summer of 2020, claiming lives and costing billions of dollars in property damage, but Minneapolis witnessed numerous fires, acts of violence, and looting as the site of Floyd’s death.

By the end of 2020 the Minneapolis City Council had voted to slash $8 million from the police department budget, and by the summer of 2021 more than 200 police officers had left the police force.  That number had climbed to 300 departed officers by the fall of 2021, according to an article by The Minnesota Reformer.

Sutton says “thousands upon thousands” of innocent people have suffered from Sathanandan and other left-wing activists who succeeded in running off police officers and making the streets less safe.

“They weren't on her mind one second,” he insists.

Even if the four carjackers are found and arrested, Sutton adds, they will likely go free. That is because Mary Moriarty, the prosecutor for Minneapolis and Hennepin County, is a left-wing attorney whose candidacy was backed by radical leftist groups.

“There are no consequences and since there are no consequences, there is no accountability,” Sutton warns. “And if there is no accountability, there will be no change.”
