Markell: Anybody surprised at anti-Semitism not paying attention

A messianic Jewish leader says she is not surprised by a survey that found an overwhelming percentage of American Jews are concerned about escalating anti-Semitism in the United States.

In a survey commissioned and released by the Ruderman Family Foundation, 93% of American Jews are concerned with the current levels of anti-Semitism in the United States. Almost half of U.S. Jews, 42%, said they experienced anti-Semitism either directly or through family and friends over the past five years alone.

Jan Markell, founder and director of Olive Tree Ministries, says the hatred and violence is “escalating” because the Bible makes it clear both Christians and Jews will come under “terrible attack” during the End Times.

“The Bible was written almost exclusively by Jews. The prophets of old were Jewish. The disciples were Jewish,” she told American Family Radio. “And yet we read about this going on all the time, and it's escalating. So I'm not surprised at all.”

What is puzzling, Markell went on to tell the “Today’s Issues” program, is why so many American Jews continue to identify as ardent, hard-left liberals.

“Liberals are not the friends of the Jews or the state of Israel,” she insisted.
