Prayer warriors will soon assemble in Washington, D.C. for an annual event hosted by the Museum of the Bible.

Dr. Jim Garlow of Well Versed, a ministry that engages members of Congress and other leaders in prayer and biblical principles, and Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council (FRC) recognize that liberty only flourishes when it is grounded in faith, humility, and dependence on the Lord.

Understanding America's need for God and aiming to humble themselves before Him, they came together with others in late 2022 to found and plan the first National Gathering for Prayer & Repentance (NGPR) for early 2023.

According to FRC Senior Fellow Jody Hice, "This is one of the most important spiritual events that will take place in our nation. We'll have members of Congress, state leaders, evangelical leaders, and intercessors from all across the country."

Representatives Keith Self (R-Texas) and Brad Knott (R-North Carolina) and Senator Katie Britt (R-Alabama) appeared at the 2025 event.

"The only way that we can do hard things is with and through You, Lord," the latter prayed. "We ask that You allow us to become that shining city on a hill once more for Your love, Your grace, and Your mercy."

U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson was also there, and he and other members of Congress will be in attendance again this year with state, evangelical, and worship leaders from various U.S. states.

Hice, a former member of Congress who represented Georgia's 10th Congressional District for eight years prior to joining FRC, encourages believers across the nation to join the gathering live or online.

"Either way, we urge you to pray about what's about to take place," he says.

This year's NGPR is scheduled for Wednesday, February 4 from 7:00-10:30 a.m. Eastern.
