What would Martin Luther say?

A proclaimer of Jesus Christ says it's "perfectly typical" to hear lies from mainline denominations.

A woman pastor of an unnamed Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) recently told her congregation that the Great Commission means nothing to "progressive church circles" like hers.

"We … don't tend to be real excited about the idea of running out and telling other people to change because of Jesus," she said, because Christianity is, according to her, just one among many paths to heaven.

"I think that there are people who are perfectly happy in other faiths who do not need converting to ours," she told the crowd.

Dr. Ray Pritchard told American Family Radio that does not surprise him.

"She is perfectly typical of what you hear in mainline denominations," he said. "That's not an extreme example."

He knows the term "a lie from the pit of hell" can be misused, but he thinks that is quite literally what her message was.

"It is satanic in its root, in its origin, and it is satanic in its effect on those who follow that kind of teaching," the Keep Believing Ministries president stated.

He thinks the ELCA should go back and check in with its founder.

"Somebody get Martin Luther on the phone," he joked. "Let's get Dr. Luther on the phone and ask him what he thinks about what's being said in his name."

Martin Luther was a German monk who started the Reformation on October 31, 1517 when he posted his 95 Theses on the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg.
