Baptize America to host the largest synchronized baptism in history

Expect to see a lot of baptisms as a national event known as Baptize America is planned for June 8th.

Pastor Mark Francey of Oceans Church in Orange County, California, is one of the organizers of Baptize America, and it builds off something he felt led to start a few years ago.

"Two years ago on Pentecost Sunday, we launched Baptize Southern California at the historic Pirates Cove in beautiful Orange County, California," Francey told Family Research Council's "Washington Watch" program. "We had about 180 churches show up and work together. Different denominations came together. We baptized 4,166 people in one day."

Last year, on Pentecost Sunday, they went to Huntington Beach where they saw around 6,000 people get baptized.

"We actually united the Church of California," said Francey. "We had over 300 locations in the entire state that were hosting in local churches, and those 300 locations in every single county of California hosted and baptized 6,000 in those churches."

Francey went on to say, "If it could happen in California, it can happen in America."

This year, on Pentecost Sunday, June 8th, Francey and others will be launching Baptize America in every single state. It will be the largest synchronized event of baptism by immersion seen in world history.

"Thousands of churches will be working together to fulfill the Matthew 28 Commission, to go into all the world making disciples, and baptizing them," said Francey. "We've always preached the Gospel. One of the three requirements is for there to be a clear proclamation of what the Gospel is with an invitation for people to respond before they go into the waters of baptism."
