Thomas More Society to help celebrate Easter in famous Chicago public plaza

A large cross is going up in Chicago.

The cross will be installed on Good Friday on Daley Plaza.

It was paid for by the law firm known as Thomas More Society as well as a number of cosponsors that have joined the law firm over the years.

Tom Brejcha, founder, president, and chief counsel of Thomas More Society says it will be a new cross this year.

"A little taller than it was in prior years. This is our, I think, 18th year displaying the cross. It goes up on Good Friday. It'll be there until next Tuesday through the Easter Sunday celebration and you know at dawn on Sunday, we have an interdenominational religious service to celebrate Easter."

The sunrise service will feature music, prayer and praise in downtown Chicago.

Religious displays tend to get reaction from anti-religious organizations and law firms. However, Brejcha says this is legal.

"It's free speech as well as an exercise of our right to religious liberty and religious practice in the public square."

Thomas More Society attorneys regularly assist groups and individuals across the country, defending their First Amendment right to express religious beliefs freely and openly in the public square and workplace.
