Misinformation could sway Ohio redistricting vote, Click says

A group of Ohio pastors hope that voters in the Buckeye State say no to Issue 1.

Ninety-three clergy from North Central Ohio have released a video encouraging voters to "VOTE NO" on Issue 1, to prevent an unelected commission from overseeing the redistricting process.

They believe that Issue 1 would take the power away from the people and allow extreme gerrymandering to help get more Democrats in the legislature.

Gary Click is pastor of the Fremont Baptist Temple and represents District 88 in the Ohio House of Representatives.

"It's a left-wing power grab by the extremist liberals who can't win seats because they're so fixated on the woke culture of providing sex changes for children and men playing in women's sports and so forth, and they can't win seats here in Ohio based on their policies."

Click says the breakdown in the Ohio House right now is 67-32 in favor of the Republicans.

"So the Democrats are in an extreme minority. They do not have the power to block us from any emergency bills. They don't have the power to stop us if the governor vetoes the bill, which has happened a couple of times, and so they would like to have power to stop us from passing common sense legislation like that."

So Click says it comes down to overcoming the Democrats' misinformation campaign.

"If our base understands that this is politically motivated by the Democrats then they turn out and understand that they'll vote appropriately, and we should win. But that's still up in the air. The majority of people are undecided on this issue. If they read the actual ballot language, they should realize that it's a bad deal."
