There is still time for churches to get involved in a nationwide prayer effort for Israel.

Alarmed by the worldwide hate expressed against Israel after the Oct. 7 Hamas attack, the Family Research Council has organized a prayer event on Sunday, May 19 to pray for Israel and for the Jewish people.

Tony Perkins, president of the FRC, tells AFN churches are being encouraged to “pray for and stand with” Israel.

“We’re now seeing this rise of anti-Semitism here in the United States and literally around the world,” Perkins says. “Genesis chapter 12 is very clear: Those who bless Irael, those who bless the Jewish people, will be blessed.”

Israel was stunned to watch Hamas, the Gaza-based terrorist group, launch a well-planned attack Oct. 7 in northern Israel. Hamas terrorists killed approximately 1,200 Israelis and kidnapped another 250 people, including American citizens.

Israel Defense Forces launched a war against Hamas just days after the attack, beginning in northern Gaza. Despite the violent attack against civilians, public support for Israel has eroded – including in the Biden administration – as the IDF has advanced south through Gaza with plans to completely eliminate Hamas.
